And baby don't follow their lead

I just spent the last two hours rearranging my room and I feel like I've been rearranging my mind at the same time. Oh, I'm the worst ever at making decisions, especially when this one determines whether I graduate on time or not. Wow. Liking this quote from Auster's "The Locked Room."
In the end, each life is no more than the sum of contingent facts, a chronicle
of chance intersections, of flukes, of random events that divulge nothing
but their own lack of purpose. (p. 256)

The thing is, who can predict which events in our lives are the ones that shape us or are the events that just, well, are events.
